Why I selected this to help is, because, Sri Lanka is an Island, which is protected by a beautifull coral reaf. This coral reaf is damaged by a fish called star fish.Turtles eat this star fish.Earlier people didn't know about this, and they collected the turtle eggs, when they came ashore to lay eggs and ate them.Tutles come three to four times a year to the same beach area to lay eggs and lay about 150 - 200 eggs at a time in the night.but when they got to know that, tutles are important to protect the island, they sold the eggs to these, turtle farms instead of eating them. What the turtle farm does is, to hatch the eggs naturally, and after 65 days when the turtles come out, they keep them in a tank, for about a week, untill they are grown bigger, and send them back to the sea in the night. Naturally if this happens many turtles are eaten by eagles and big fish. and only about 25% of the hatch are surviving. There are 5 types of turtles out of 7 types in the world in and round Sri Lanka beach area.

These people who are doing this farm voluntarily are doing a great service to protect the island indirectly. That is the reason why I selected them to help.otherwise they will be discouraged and later people will go back to what they did at the biginning eating the turtle eggs. Also by law because of this reason turtles are prohibited to kill. There is a new turtle sactury also in the eastern coast of Sri lanka now.

They have started rebuilding the farm.you can see the progress from the photoes. If I have more money I will give them some more money to repair the house which they live which is infront of the farm. You can see the state of the house from pictures.
